PECO is a unit of Exelon Energy Delivery, responsible for safe, reliable electric and natural gas distribution and customer service for residential business and institutional consumers in southeastern Pennsylvania.
PECO is Pennsylvania’s largest utility operating and maintaining a network with 550 power substations, 21,000 miles of distribution and transmission lines, 27 gas gate stations and 6,000 miles of underground gas mains.
The company serves approximately 1.6 million electric customers in the City of Philadelphia as well as Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and York counties and 480,000 natural gas customers in the areas outside the city. About 90 percent of its customers are residential and the remaining 10 percent are small commercial and industrial customers.
A utility with a heritage of more than 100 years serving the Greater Philadelphia region, PECO employs about 2,300 employees, many of whom are involved in their communities on civic boards and in municipal, government, church and other volunteer organizations.
An active corporate citizen, PECO on average contributes more than $10 million annually to non-profit organizations, events and programs in the areas of education, safety, the environment, and the arts.
PECO also provides a variety of assistance programs, including discounted rates for qualified low-income customers, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), the Low Income Usage Reduction Program (LIHURP) and CARES.
PECO has been recognized as Pennsylvania’s safest utility by the state Department of Labor & Industry with related awards also from the Energy Association of Pennsylvania and the American Gas Association.
